What is Alternanza Scuola Lavoro (Work & study)?
As outlined by the Ministry for Education, Universities and Research (MIUR): “Alternanza Scuola Lavoro is an innovative teaching method which helps students to consolidate knowledge acquired in the classroom with practical experience, testing their skills in the field, enhancing their training and directing them towards a study course and, in the future, a job, via programmes in line with their study programme. Alternanza Scuola Lavoro, which is compulsory for all students in the last three years of secondary education, including high schools, is one of the most significant innovations of Law 107/2015 (The Good School) in line with the principle of open schooling. It is a cultural change aimed at creating an Italian two-way system that combines good European practices with the specific aspects of the productive fabric and socio-cultural context of Italy”.
School Year 2017/18: Alternanza Scuola Lavoro will be compulsory for all students in the final three years: approximately one and a half million.
